It’s set in a quirky little waterfront town in Northern California and follows one family who’ve gotten really good at pretending they don’t need anybody. Michael is fifty-four, stubborn, and perfectly happy keeping the world at arm’s length. His estranged son, Conner, comes home after Michael’s heart attack, planning to stay just long enough to help. And Susan, the sister who takes care of everyone, decides at forty-five that she wants to be a mother, whether or not her family’s ready for it.
There’s humor, heart, a healthy dose of small-town nosiness, and characters who don’t always make the best decisions.
